This house and its twin at 702 3rd Street were designed by Philadelphia architect Kennedy. The two-and-a-half-story house has an unusual cross-gambrel roof, a porch across the facade, an immense oval window that lights the front vestibule, and a one-story kitchen wing. A carriage house matches the style of the main house. An early planting plan for the property, apparently drawn by a member of the Osborne family at the turn of the twentieth century, is on file at the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
