“Little” in the name ostensibly refers to the Little Kanawha River, on which Glenville is located, but it also describes the building. This two-room bank tries resolutely to compensate for its diminutive size with lots of applied classical detailing. Pilasters frame a canted corner entrance, and letters on the frieze spell out the institution's name. All the facing is pressed metal, including the fluted pilasters and garlands in the frieze and the simulated quarryfaced stone blocks that form the walls. Now moved a short distance from its original location nearby, the bank is a charming survival of small-town America.
