This two-story brick commercial structure is thought to be downtown's oldest building. Above a remodeled first story, elaborate semicircular lintels top the narrow second-story windows, while a bracketed Italianate cornice caps the assembly. A rare survivor in Charleston, the small building is typical of mid-nineteenthcentury commercial buildings in many American cities. As a new cornerstone testifies, it was restored in 1994.
