The trusses of this unique, 93-foot-long, 12foot-wide vehicular bridge are fabricated entirely of railroad rails, a rare remaining example of a type patented as the Lane truss. A metal plaque attached to one of the trusses proclaims, “Lane Bridge built by Vulcan Road Machine Co. Charles Town. W. Va. 1892.”
