Bella Vista and its attendant outbuildings make up one of Berkeley County's most picturesque and easily seen rural architectural groupings. The two-story main house, built of roughly coursed limestone, has a formal five-bay facade and a carved date stone with the numerals 1807. To the rear, the old Tuscarora Road (Berkeley County 15) curves around the beautifully landscaped property, where a springhouse and distillery, both of stone, stand close by a pond. On the slope to the rear, a stone and frame bank barn with a protruding forebay adds its charm to the perfect picture.
