Zackquill Morgan, another son of Morgan Morgan I, built the three-bay main block of this twostory house of random rubble limestone. A later frame wing to the side replaces a log addition. A sturdy second-generation house, Cool Spring affords interesting comparisons with the smaller Morgan cabin across the road, built thirty years earlier. Five years after building his house, Zackquill Morgan moved farther west. In 1779 he founded Morgantown, which is named for him, in Monongalia County.
