1910, Heard and Cardwell. 430 Main St.

By the early twentieth century, professional architects were working in South Boston. Perhaps the most notable example of their work is this building. Its two stories are clearly defined by a cream-colored stuccoed brick first floor and a red brick second. The entrance, with a round-arched transom below a pediment, is in the canted corner bay that has gently rounded edges and is further emphasized with a large arcaded circular brick belfry rising above a stepped parapet.
