Behind its modern portico, side porch, dormers, and siding, this is a three-part frame house with two-story wings. Palladian in form, the building also has the type's characteristically tall windows on the first story and short windows on the second, almost all of which are now modified with one-over-one sash. Apparently clerks of the court have an affinity for three-part houses. Castlewood (CS4) in Chesterfield County and Mount Pleasant (FN6) in Franklin County were built for court clerks as was this residence. Its original owner, Deputy Clerk of the Court Berryman Green, had the distinction earlier of being an officer on George Washington's staff during the Revolution. The house now serves as the clubhouse of Green's Folly Country Club.
