Once a common building type throughout rural Virginia, this is one of the few general stores to survive. A frame and weatherboard structure, it consists of a tall three-story section and a long two-story section, each with a shed roof, and a long wooden porch with heavy turned wooden posts. The building, which also features bracketed eaves and two-over-two double-sash windows, both elements typical of the period, appears in the 1921 silent feature Tol’able David, which was filmed in and around Blue Grass.
