Diagonally across Spring Street, directly behind Trinity, is the somewhat awkwardly scaled but charming first Telephone Building for Newport. The vigorous swoosh of the double-arched crown of the Palladian motif at the center is barely contained within its pilastered and corniced frame—all windows unfortunately cut down in a recent renovation.
