c. 1945. U.S. 15 Business, just north of Church St.

Linked by an open breezeway the modernist one-story house and separate studio are constructed of concrete block and have low gable roofs with wide eaves. The section nearest the road, originally the studio of local artist Gertrude Shook, is illuminated by a narrow band of clerestory windows. Other windows, set into wood-panel walls set into the concrete structures, have three wide lights that can be cranked open. An open carport with inverted V-shaped trusses completes this complex that is far from the Southside norm.
