A music school occupies this terrace of three pavilions with a much-altered central block surmounted by a pedimented gable and flanked by two narrow porticoed wings that are Roman in inspiration. At 801 Mahantongo Street, a large Victorian house with a mansard roof has the character of Philadelphia architect and pattern book author Isaac Hobbs's French-roofed houses that he designed for the nouveau riche in the outer tier of Pennsylvania from Pottsville to Bellefonte. Farther up the hill are several remarkable early-twentieth-century Colonial Revival and Beaux-Arts houses.
