Russoniello's American Baroque essay is a brick box of a church, with a lantern rising above the crossing and a sumptuous marble facade. It is a monument to the stoneworking skills of the architect, a parish member who came from the Carlucci family of Italian stone carvers. A vast broken pediment encloses fine sculptural groups in the tympanum, while Sts. Peter and Paul stand watch in roundels mounted on the flanking wings in a manner reminiscent of the contemporary Italian Novecento movement. A jewel-like cornerstone, rendered in mosaic, glitters in the base.
