This city hall aspires to grandeur: tall spiky towers and pinnacles reach toward the sky, framing a series of picturesque Victorian Gothic vignettes in sandstone. Inside, the council chamber is a stencil-decorated double-height public space, illuminated by large stained glass windows. A miniature Bridge of Sighs connects City Hall to the later Fire Headquarters (1905, Frederick Lord Brown) on Mulberry Street.
