This squarish frame house set on a high brick basement is in striking contrast to the form and materials of the nearby two-story brick houses of the same era. Although somewhat obscured by a later porch, the house's Jeffersonian roots are nonetheless visible. From its hipped roof rises an off-center brick chimney reflecting the internal arrangement of different-sized rooms. Beneath a continuous entablature, Doric pilasters define the front bays and turn each corner of this house that is lighted by large, tall windows.
