Set perpendicular to the courthouse, this H-shaped five-bay two-story brick building with a brick connecting hyphen has a one-story porch that spans the facade. Facing the courthouse, the porch provided a fine spot for busy Court Day crowds to view and be viewed. Above the hotel's stepped mousetooth brick cornice, interior-end chimneys rise from the slate gabled roofs. A hyphen with an arched entrance connects the building to the old brick kitchen, and a lattice well house stands to the right of the house. First operated by Thomas May, who gave the land for the courthouse, the hotel has also served as offices, Masonic lodge, post office, residence, and is now a bed-and-breakfast. ) burned, the court convened here until a new building could be constructed.
