The modest one-story frame office and the two-story brick house of James Figgatt are conveniently adjacent to each other, a common arrangement in the nineteenth century. The office's off-center three-bay facade and simple hipped roof contrasts with the formal symmetry of the five-bay house with its deck-on-hip roof. The wooden Gray House (c. 1867; 26 E. Main) has a two-story porch across the facade and another in the rear. Below brackets supporting the eaves, the front porch's curious entablature features a locally recurring element that lies somewhere between dentils and modillions.
