This 280-acre dairy farm is located on a hillside west of Great Cove Road. The house consists of two parts: a c. 1835 rear ell stone portion, and the five-bay brick portion c. 1840 that faces the barn. A two-story brick springhouse north of the main house has living quarters above. The spectacular array of ornamented wooden porches on three elevations of the house was restored in 1976 by local carpenters Fred and Tom Mellott. The frame barn and wagon shed west of the house are both sheathed in vertical wood siding. The original owner of the farm was George Puterbaugh, a Maryland German Baptist from the Dunkard branch. There are five brick houses within two miles of this site built for the Puterbaugh (sometimes spelled Butterbaugh) family.
