This eight-bay, limestone, gable-roofed inn dominates the town's main street. It accommodated travelers in the packhorse era of the 1790s, and continued in use as an inn until 1968. It has seen a variety of changes, including the removal of a two-story porch that is shown in many historic pictures when the building was the Union Hotel. A stream runs under the southeast corner of the building, and a log house of 1770 is attached at the northeast. The three easternmost bays were added in 1820 and now host the historical society. After the inn closed, the borough purchased the house and restored it with volunteer labor for the nation's bicentennial in 1976. A mural by Wayne Fetko graces the side of the adjacent commercial building touting the Lincoln Highway.
