1887; later addition. 1023 Main St.

Above an altered street floor, the facade of this seven-bay commercial building displays three stories of exuberant cast iron. The westernmost four bays are older and wider than the three to the east, but all display identical, engaged Corinthian columns and pilasters supporting truly weird impost blocks. Balustrades with urns originally topped both sections, but this feature now remains only on the three-bay addition. This is now Main Street's sole surviving cast-iron front, though there were never many. It continues in its original function—as a furniture store.
