During the early twentieth century the springs resorts in Warm Springs Valley attracted an influx of visitors, some of whom purchased property near The Homestead and made the area their summer or year-round home. Consequently, many old houses in the valley were remodeled and enlarged by wealthy new owners. The house at Gramercy Farm was one of them. Initially named Rock Spring, William McKee Dunn renamed the estate Gramercy Farm in the 1920s and hired Richmond architect Lee to enlarge and remodel the two-story stone house into a Colonial Revival showplace. With its stone cottages and lawns shaded by old trees and outlined by picturesque rock walls, Gramercy Farm is a landmark.
