Separated from the street by a green lawn and large mature trees, this Neo-Tudor house evokes a landscape far removed from that of Reno's high desert. Edward S. Parsons, a local architect who designed numerous buildings during his long career, used a variety of forms, textures, and materials for this skillfully executed residence. Front-facing gables break the solid line of the main roof's edge. The entrance is recessed in a narrow, brick-faced and gabled central bay with a Tudor-arched opening of stone. Two larger gabled bays with stoneclad first stories and half-timbered second stories flank the entrance. Recycled brick from Virginia City buildings, interspersed with Carson City sandstone, creates a slightly rustic look.
