Inexpensively constructed and minimally detailed frame cottages were the most common house type built in Clifton Forge at the turn of the twentieth century. This example features a side-passage plan, a cross-gable roof, a recessed entrance porch, diamond-shaped windows, and alternating courses of decorative shingles in the prominent gable ends.
