Built to accommodate George M. Farrar's drugstore, the Farrar Building retains one of the most architecturally distinctive facades in Clifton Forge. Incorporating the latest construction and decorative methods, the two-story building is of poured concrete and has veneered brick panels with a Flemish bond pattern. Art Deco cast-concrete decorative and signage panels with birds and stylized foliage enrich the building, and Farrar's name is inscribed at the top of the canted corner. By contrast the upper story of the building (1892) at 504 Main has more traditional classical decoration, but here made of cast iron.
