Henry M. Leland founded the Cadillac Motor Car Company in 1902, and this building was the main assembly plant until 1920, when Cadillac moved to its Clark Street facility. This three-story, reinforced-concrete structure was built in only sixty-seven days and was finished several weeks after Kahn's Packard Building Number 10 (
WN97). It was a pioneer in the use of reinforced concrete for industrial building.
