12408 Stonehaven Lane is an example of the Rancher model, available at Belair between 1960 and 1962. The house appealed to the company because it added greater variety to the suburban streetscape and met consumer demand for single-story houses, which were, without question, the most popular postwar form. After 1962, an updated version of the model was available for the remainder of development. While Levitt architects made minor changes to the plan, the principal difference in this model was the exterior, which became a more unified, horizontal composition that better reflected the aesthetic appeal of the postwar “ranch” house.
