California's Mission Revival was surprisingly popular in the Midwest for churches, schools, and recreation buildings. This small example has a pair of scalloped, parapeted gable ends, arched windows, and stuccoed walls. It was constructed as a church for workers at the nearby meat-packing plant. Another example of the Mission Revival is the Gildner house (1914) at 217 Fifth Street Northwest, designed by J. W. Trafzer.
