A charming Spanish Colonial Revival bungalow, this residence features an arched opening leading into the entrance porch, with a tiny walled terrace to the side. The roof is parapeted except for a tinge of tile over the entrance. The rough, tactile stucco walls are of a finish labeled “Spanish Lac” in trade journals. Mason City has several other Spanish Colonial or Mediterranean Revival houses. There are two small bungalows also designed by local contractor Nick Netzel, one at 904 Tenth Street Northeast (1938) and one at 415 Fourteenth Street Northwest (1940). The earlier Wiley house of 1917 at 24 South Vermont Avenue represents a transition between the Mission and the Spanish Colonial Revival styles.
