This two-story Romanesque Revival commercial building was one of a number of blue-stone buildings erected in Honolulu during the 1890s. The building is characterized by its excellent stonework, especially the high-relief work on the second story, three large round arches, corbeled cornice, and parapet. The stone piers have shouldered blocks to suggest capitals. Built as office space, this building housed the Japanese-language newspaper Nippu Jiji from 1923 to 1984.
