Hookipa is a long, ground-hugging, stuccoed administration and student services building that extends parallel to Kaahumanu Avenue for a large portion of the community college's street frontage. Its gentle countenance, augmented by an interior courtyard, provides an intimate campus character. A jag interrupts the building's horizontal flow and along with the facade-length inset lanai, adds a degree of visual depth. Kapa (cloth made from bark)–patterned iron gates and glass-block wall segments contribute further texture, lightness, and variety. The present building is the result of a major renovation from 1997.
