Sitting on a large, rolling, ocean view lot with tall cypress trees, Christ Church is the oldest Episcopal church building in Hawaii. The simplicity of its prefabricated forms, including the Gothic-arched openings and steep gable roof surmounted by a tall steeple, complement its surroundings. Its single-wall nave features three lancet windows on each side and an exposed scissors-truss system supporting the roof. The slightly narrower chancel is raised two steps above the nave, and its double-wall form reflects a slightly later construction date. The Reverend Samuel B. Davis, who served the congregation for thirty years beginning in 1872, made the koa baptismal font, choir stalls, lectern, and reredos. The interior wall bracing is more recent, as are the stained glass windows.
