Standing on the shore about three miles south of Mokuaikaua, this modest rubble-stone apana (outstation) church was one of five churches erected by the Reverend John Paris during the 1850s in the Kona district. Dressed quoins dignify this simple, gable-roofed structure. The walls are bonded with coral burnt-lime mortar and, originally, ohia was used to frame the windows. The church was abandoned in the 1940s, but thanks to the efforts of the Reverend Ken Smith, the shell was reroofed and rehabilitated in 1992.
