St. John's Episcopal Church

1954–1956, Albert F. Tucker. Washington Blvd. at intersection with Wallace Circle

St. John's Church is a faithful copy of a famous building in Virginia's colonial capital, the earlyeighteenth-century glazed headers, compose the walls of the cruciform building. The tall tower fronting the nave was faithful to the original, until the two wooden stages below the spire were covered in vinyl siding in recent years. Albert Tucker, of Huntington, used a similar design for the Epworth Methodist Church in Ripley, in Jackson County.
