1966. East side of Main St., opposite the intersection with Scarbro Rd., north of Oak Hill Baptist Church

This competently handled Roman Doric temple, executed in red brick with a limestone portico and trim, is decidedly Jeffersonian in appearance. It resembles Jefferson's pavilions at the University of Virginia as well as courthouses throughout Piedmont Virginia that his designs inspired. Mr. Jones built the edifice as a private library for the pastor of the adjoining Oak Hill Baptist Church, but it became a public facility two years later.
