Old Halifax County Library

This is one of the Colonial Revival libraries in Virginia funded by David K. E. Bruce. The T-shaped, one-and-a-half-story brick building with its three gabled dormers in the slate roof is similar to the other libraries except for its small polygonal portico that was probably inspired by one at Gunston Hall in Fairfax County. The library closed in 1978 and is now used for county purposes. On the same lot as the library is the Colonial Revival Halifax County Elementary School (former High School, 1952–1953) designed by Stainback and Scribner of Charlottesville.
