The Davis Brothers were just as prolific and innovative as architects and developers of apartment buildings as they were with town houses. The firm built a number of these buildings on the Boulevard and Monument Avenue and in neighborhoods west of the Boulevard. These blocks of Stuart Avenue and the Boulevard have one of the largest and most impressive groupings. The buildings are all basically the same structure, with variation in ornamentation expressed primarily through roofs and porches. Each of the buildings has two- or three-story porches, with either one porch extending the width of the building or two porches per building. The Dorchester is specifically neoclassical, while the Darlington is an elephantine Georgian Revival structure. The other buildings display an eclectic mix of classical and Arts and Crafts details.
