To a large extent Davis Brothers, architects and contractors, built the Boulevard, both houses and apartment buildings. Perhaps influenced by the nearly contemporaneous Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915 in San Diego, Davis Brothers employed elements of the Mission Revival style, including porches, overhanging eaves, and tile roofs. As in this location, the firm generally built rows that followed a particular architectural theme or combination of themes, such as English Arts and Crafts or Georgian Revival.
