Although down at the heels, this is one of downtown Richmond's special architectural treasures. The block contains three attached four-story buildings with exuberantly decorated Italianate iron-front facades. The facing was probably cast in Baltimore by Bartlett Hayward, and Company. This is one of Richmond's earliest examples of prefabricated building construction. The dramatic street front is a tour de force of twelve Venetian-style window bays, each defined by engaged Corinthian columns. Engaged balustrades separate the third and fourth floors. The shopfronts at street level have been largely defaced.
