The foremost example in San Antonio of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style was built for San Antonio contractor Lawrence T. Wright (not a relative of Frank). The house was Willis's first independent work after he established his own office, bearing all the trademarks of the style, with its low-pitched hipped roof and horizontal bands of windows tucked under the eaves. Local artist Fred Donecker painted the interior murals and stenciling, merging art and architecture in a harmony that befits the style of the house. The house now houses an architecture firm.
