The Joske House, one of the finest examples of Colonial Revival in Texas, was built for the son of the founder of the Joske mercantile empire. The scale of this grand brick house, with its elaborate wooden two-story front porch and trio of dormer windows, is almost too big for its site, but the balance of McAdoo's design is an indication of his abilities as an architect. Unfortunately, this is the only major house in town attributed to him and little is known of his life and career.
