This limestone Gothic Revival church was constructed for San Antonio's large German Catholic congregation after they failed to acquire the Alamo Mission Church, which the U.S. Army was using as a warehouse. The spire, added in 1898, significantly enhances the Gothic Revival character of the structure. The interior features octagonal wooden columns and a tripartite altar. At the turn of the twentieth century, ornamental stained glass windows were installed by an unknown craftsman. Next to the church, the compact two-story Italianate rectory neatly fits onto the small site.
