The four-story store, now linked to River Center Mall, made careful use of Spanish Renaissance decoration incorporated into an overall Moderne design with window bays framed by fluted pilasters, which support the relief-carved cornices. The scheme incorporated several earlier buildings all wrapped in the new limestone facades. Adjacent to the entrances, replicas of the famed sacristy window of Mission San José were intended for the display of items from the store, a rather irreverent use.
