Perched above the San Antonio River, the Clifford Building is a rather restrained Romanesque Revival work by Gordon, who here joins the second- and third-floor windows beneath round arches. The original brick-work has unfortunately been painted over. The designer of the Riverwalk, Robert H. H. Hugman, had his office in this building, so he could look out at his work on a daily basis, a fact that is commemorated by Hugman's name and dates on the curved canopy above the water.
