Tightly clustered on their high lots overlooking the harbor, these three cottages were used as summer rentals in conjunction with the nearby Hotel Thorndike, owned and operated by Newport developer Patrick Horgan. Except for differences in minor details such as inset gables or a small dormer turret, they are nearly identical, perhaps as were Horgan's three daughters, Betty, Nina, and Myra, for whom they were named and who eventually inherited them.
