Here, Bevins uses an all-encompassing gable facing the street to help consolidate the variety of window shapes, bays, and varied trim of his facade. In Anoatok and neighboring houses, Bevins, Johnston, and others are obviously in a kind of extended conversation with each other, exploring the ways in which traditional elements can be configured in novel ways. A recent renovation continues this exploration with a new entry portico and other changes to the facade, mostly in keeping with the sense of the original design.
