This unassuming two-story brick Colonial Revival house could be one of thousands of such middle-class single-family houses built across the country between the two world wars. The subtle classicism that proved so appealing is evident in simple wood detailing at the entrance, windows, and eaves. Designed by a local architect, the house was sponsored by the town's newspaper as the “Model Home of 1930.” The first day it opened 3,000 people came to see the affordable design, and within two weeks 24,000 had toured the house. It is located in Allentown's most exclusive late 1920s residential development, Kay Gardens.
