Old Haverford Meetinghouse (to distinguish it from the nearby later Haverford Meeting) is unlike most early meetinghouses because its entrance faces the east. This suggests that south-facing orientation did not become widespread until after 1700, by which time the first stone wing with its off-center door and window was completed. A slightly wider joint near the center of the rear wall makes clear the line of extension in 1800 when the building was extended with a stone room similar to the wing of 1700. William Penn is said to have preached in this building.
