The Zippo headquarters in downtown Bradford is a sleek Moderne building. A three-dimensional sign in the shape of a lighter, bearing the initials of the founder, George G. Blaisdell, rises above the entrance. Across the street, a small single-car garage was the first office space belonging to Zippo. It is identifiable by the Moderne lettering above the garage door and the lighter-shaped streetlights in the adjacent parking lot. The lighters were originally manufactured in the two-story section of the headquarters, which was adapted from an old horse barn in the late 1930s. A three-story section was opened in 1955, and in 1994, the building's original sheathing was replaced with a dark forest-green reflective glass that appears black.
