1930, Thomas K. Hendryx. 28 Kennedy St.

Commissioned the same year as the Hooker Fulton building (
MK7), this office building and its neighbor at 24 Kennedy Street look like they belong in South Beach, Miami, Florida, not in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Hendryx highlights the entrance of this two-story, white glazed-brick Art Deco building with layers of recessed brick and articulates the facade with ribbed corbeling and stylized corner blocks. Next door, the former Healy Petroleum Building (1942, F. Fensel), now City Hall, has a tall, recessed vertical window above the entrance to light the interior staircase, which contrasts the horizontal emphasis of the wraparound corner windows. A simple cornice of sawtooth ornament outlines the flat roof of the three-story, white brick structure.
