Charles C. Bowen converted a simple vernacular cottage built by Charles W. Caskey for John Esaias and Charlotte Warren into a double house linked with a full-width giant two-tiered, balustraded Ionic portico with two dramatic semicircular projections. The portico connects and conceals a T-shaped house on the west with a side-gabled house on the east: this elaborate white classical mansion results. A dentiled entablature on the first level and block modillions support the eaves of the second level.
